The Government of Ontario has created a new guide to encourage businesses to create their own workplace guidance plan to make their workplace reopening process, safer for everyone.
Here is a brief overview of some of the guide’s suggestions:
- Understand how COVID-19 can spread within the workplace, from surfaces and interactions
- Make staff aware of safety procedures, using methods like meetings, posters, or e-mails
- Screen for potential infections and encourage workers to self-monitor
- Maximize physical distancing and separation when possible
- Reduce the likelihood of transmission from objects and surfaces, by limiting contact and increasing cleaning and sanitation
- Support good hand and respiratory hygiene
- PPE should be used in combination with other health and safety procedures
- Try to make the same group of employees work together to limit exposure
- Maintain a work log, in case infection appears, so you can trace who else might be infected
- Follow public health guidance and contact your local public health unit if any symptoms emerge
