Neighborhood Helper

Neighborhood Helper is a nationwide campaign launched by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, which provides assistance to Canadians during COVID-19. Services offered include, picking up groceries, filing prescriptions and providing overall moral support.

The Good Neighbours Project - GTA

Started in March 2020, The Good Neighbour Project, assist with delivering groceries, medical supplies and medication to those with disabilities, the immuno-compromised, the elderly, single parents, and pregnant persons.

Halton Children's Aid

The Halton Children’s Aid Society (Halton CAS) is your local community resource helping children, youth and families, with programs and services. Volunteering with Halton Children's Aid Society can take many forms, you can help with mentoring, tutoring, food delivery, special events, seasonal programing,  etc. 

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halton and Hamilton

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada is a Federation comprised of 108 member agencies servicing more than 1,100 communities across the country. Mobilizing over 21,300 volunteers who in turn mentor 41,700+ children and young people, Big Brother and Big Sisters of Canada helps children and youth in need.

Ontario Shores: Centre for Mental Health Sciences

Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores) is a public teaching hospital providing a range of specializes assessment and treatment services to those living with complex and serious mental illness. Volunteering with Ontario Shores provides vital community links for patients. Volunteers from all walks of life are welcome.

Burlington Food Bank

The Burlington Food Bank has been proudly serving those in need within the community since 1991. Whether its providing emergency food for residents, vital information to families struggling with their finances or assisting local agencies meet their food needs, the Burlington Food Bank is here to help. Volunteers  with the Burlington Food Bank, help their neighbours in their greatest moment of need.

Food for Life

Food For Life rescues surplus perishable food (fruits, vegetables, dairy meat and prepared foods) from both wholesale food suppliers and grocery stores. These foods are  distributed to people who cannot afford fresh foods or who do not have access to healthy foods. Food for Life volunteers drive, collect, pack, coordinate, weigh, lift, carry, load, deliver, fundraise, network, direct and help with special events/outreach.

The Ontario Caregiver Organization

The Ontario Caregiver Organization recognizes the difficult and invaluable role caregivers have to both families and communities. Caregivers are deeply involved both inside and outside the home, often providing personal support, physical support, and basic medical procedures, scheduling appointment as well as managing financial and legal responsibilities. Experienced caregivers can volunteer their help to other by joining advisory panels, peer mentorship initiatives or in caregiver working groups.

March of Dimes Canada

March of Dimes Canada, seeks to maximize the independence, personal empowerment and community participations of people with physical disabilities. Volunteers to March of Dimes are a crucial part of fundraising events, campaigns and office administration. Whatever your skills or abilities, there is a way for you to help.

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is the largest non-governmental direct provider of social services in Canada, providing unprecedented support to societies most vulnerable. Offering practical assistance for children and families, the Salvation Army tends to an individuals basic necessities, as well as providing shelter to the homeless and rehabilitation for those who have lost control of their lives.

High School Volunteer Requirements

For the 2020-21 school year, the Ministry of Education has revised the 40-hour community involvement graduation requirement as a result of the ongoing challenges related to COVID-19. Students graduating in the 2020-21 school year, will have their community involvement graduation requirement reduced to a minimum of 20 hours. This recognizes that graduating students have had barriers to earning their community involvement hours last school year and there may be continued barriers this school year.
